Mind the Gap
Saturday, 17 November 2007
I’m afraid I’m creatively involved elsewhere at the moment. I’m actually having to put some brain power into work – which is fun and demanding – consequently, I’ve had little inclination to update y’all on my progress.

So saying, here’s a brief, in the order of which people here seem to speak of topics
  1. Housing: soon to be moving from my ‘spare-bed-residing/housesitter-extraordinaire’ position to renting a 2bdrm unfurnished in the London Borough of Camden (it’s still giving me a small thrill to read that little add-on on street signs).
  2. Transport/The Commute: I hate the northern line. It currently (except this week, as I’m housesitting an 8min walk from work) takes me 1hr 16mins to go from door to desk. And in that time, I can read the ENTIRE Metro. Except I rarely have the opportunity as there’s no rack on my actual route to work. Damn and blast. And HOW expensive is a 7-day pass? Yeeesh!
  3. Health: apart from a Stockholm acquired respiratory bug and the alarming ‘black snot of Lundin-tahn’ syndrome; my health is tickety-boo.
  4. Weather: beautifully autumnal, my favourite season, though the clocks went back recently and it felt like midnight by 9pm. Still, I got a VERY early night because of it.
  5. Friends/Acquaintances: I’ve met one Londoner since I’ve been here (more than many meet in years).
  6. Status: very happy thanks.
  7. Work: I’m saving lives, darling. I work for the NHS.

That’s usually where the conversations comes to a dramatic close. I’m not quite sure which answer it is that puts them off…

    Hi GNomes,

Glad to see you back on your blog, if only briefly. I have to say I've missed your postings, which are invariably amusing, but I know you've been busy. But with not being able to telephone it has been a dry ol' time. So glad we can chat once more.

    Looking forward to March.

    Love, Mamma

For what this is worth: It is truly nice to see you writing again. I hope things are well with you. BTW, here's to getting settled, but never really settling. Thank you; not just for the inspiration, but also for the therapy (your wit and relaxed humor are soothing).-CDP
